Today is Friday the 13th – cue bad luck, black cats and hockey masked murderers. I’ve already had my computer crash today and spent the entire morning reinstalling Windows *sigh* - though it’s not really surprising with the current Mercury Retrograde transit coupled with our fateful Friday 13th – it’s a double whammy of bad luck – deeelightful!
It’s official, witches are back in. Can I hear a hallelujah? From television to music, fashion and even social media. The world’s gone mad with magical powers and I for one am hyped, but not just for the social acceptance and spooky vibes. There’s a deeper reason for my delight at this witchy revolt, and it involves us ladies.
Our dreams can tell us a lot about our waking life. My fave psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, believed that dreams were a way of tapping into our unconscious and that while most dreams are very personal, some have a more mythical, symbolic quality that can only be explained through knowledge of the collective unconscious.
What do you deem a magical person to be? To me, it’s someone who brims with positive power, someone with luck, vitality and spirit in spades, a true individual who lets wonder guide them in this amusing game called life. But how does one lead such a charmed life? Luckily anyone can become a creature of magic, if they only follow a few simple steps…
So your magic isn't working, and you can't figure out why. Your intentions are fully set and you're putting them way out there, but it's not really that simple, is it? Magic, manifestation, spell, prayer, wish, whatever you want to call it, is basically the art of getting what you want by influencing the world around you, and it’s often made to look easy. But if that's the case, why does it fail so often?
I had found it now. An unusual electric sensation made its way up my spine, as if in celebration of this exciting moment, scattering shocks that shook my discs. I liked it. This is what everyone else must feel. This is what they’re all talking about. I couldn’t explain it myself, it wasn’t really a moment I could pinpoint, just that I knew I was connected to God.
Dear mystical ones, I hope you're having a fabulous Winter Solstice, and are winding down ready to worship the darkness one last time before it...
I’m hearing the word “empath” being thrown around a lot at the moment, from Buzzfeed’s ‘This is What it’s Like to Be an Empath’ to quizzes on whether you are indeed an empath or actually a narcissist in disguise, wreaking havoc on the new age scene with your fake smiles and crocodile tears – oh the horror!
I’ve probably got hundreds of years of wise women turning in their graves as I type this but despite all the esoteric mystery and spooky imagery surrounding them, tarot cards really aren’t that great at fortune telling, and any card reader that tells you something is definitely going to happen based on the tarot is as fake as Derek Acorah’s hairpiece.
